Stuart McPherson is a prize-winning poet & graphic artist from the UK. His poems have been published by Butcher’s Dog Magazine, Bath Magg, Poetry Wales, Prelude, The87press, Finished Creatures, Anthropocene and Blackbox Manifold. His pamphlet ‘Waterbearer’ was published in December 2021 by Broken Sleep Books. A debut full length collection ‘Obligate Carnivore’ was published by Broken Sleep Books in August 2022. In October 2022, Stuart was the winner of the Ambit Annual Poetry Competition. A second collection of poetry titled ‘End Ceremonies’ was published in August 2023 by Broken Sleep Books, where Stuart is also the Assistant Editor.

 

A graphic artist, Stuarts photographs, artwork and book cover designs can be seen on the covers of international arts and literary publications. Stuart also runs the clothing company 'Tried / Failed' inspired by punk rock / hardcore aesthetics.

His inspirations in no particular order are Sean Bonney, Aaron Kent (BFF for life), Ian Patterson, Ted Hughes (Crow, always Crow), JH Prynne, Zachary Schomburg, Sarah Kane, Frank Stanford, Mahmoud Darwish, George Trakl to name a few. Also the music of Framtid, LA Dispute, Touché Amore,  Departures, Drive Like Jehu, Propaghandi,  Ripcord, Final Conflict, Doom, Strike Anywhere, Magnitude, The Big Boys, Fugazi, Discharge, Dalek, Run the Jewels, Trash Talk, Dag Nasty, Mobb Deep, Death Grips, Public Enemy, The Wonder Years, The Jesus Lizard etc. etc. you get the picture.....
